Jay-Z doesn’t tweet much, but when he does, everyone takes notice. On the heels of his new album announcement, the hip-hop mogul is changing the game with a new set of rules.

“If 1 Million records gets SOLD and billboard doesnt report it, did it happen? Ha. #newrules #magnacartaholygrail Platinum!!! VII IV XIII,” tweeted Hov.

He is referring to the one million copies of his upcoming album Magna Carta Holy Grail that Samsung Mobile purchased to give out for free to Samsung Galaxy users on July 4. There is speculation as to whether the units will be counted by SoundScan and reflected on the Billboard charts.

He also shouted out about his fellow MCs who are creating their own lane.

“Kanye West ‘lead single’ projected on buildings worldwide #newrules #magnacartaholygrail,” he wrote.

His Roc Nation signee J. Cole debuted his album Born Sinner via an iPhone app.

“J Cole app for listening session. Don’t talk just listen..#newrules,” said Hov, adding, “Wale up next week #newrules.”

Jay-Z’s game-changing album features production from Timbaland, Rick Rubin, Swizz Beatz, and Pharrell. It will be available to the public three days after its July 4 release to Samsung users.
