Not only do you model but you act, sing, dance, have a degree. It sounds like you plan on following in the steps of other female moguls. Do you have any aspirations of becoming the Dominican J-Lo?
Why not?! What can I say…I’m a businesswoman. I mean, you can’t do modeling forever and acting is a very unpredictable career. I want to have a long career in modeling and acting, but I also want to have a business for when I finish modeling.
Well, you definitely break the mold of the typical model in terms of having such a business mind.
I was a ballet dancer when I was younger and then became a dance teacher and even had a dance school in the Dominican Republic. I went to school and got a degree in marketing and I’m a certified massage therapist. I know I’ve done a lot of stuff, but in everything I do I always want to make sure I’m the best.
Being a former ballet prodigy, your dance routines require you to be more flexible and limber than the average girl. Does that give you (and your man) an advantage in the bedroom?
Oh definitely! I can impress people! [Laughs] I can do some stuff! In the beginning, I’ll usually use my skills as a dancer to impress people. Sometimes guys will ask for it…[giggles] but I’m not a dancer anymore so I just sit and enjoy. But yeah, I can do some stuff.
Have there ever been any special requests?
Well, all my ex-boyfriends knew that I was a dancer so they knew what I could do. They were just waiting for the moment to see it with their eyes. [Laughs]
No doubt you’ve had many a guy try to throw game at you, but when was the last time YOU threw game at a guy?
Well, with my current boyfriend, I chased him for some time. I was the one who took control in the relationship. I asked him if he wanted to be my boyfriend. I did everything. I called him to go out and invited him to the movies. I was the one taking control all the time…and I’m still doing it. Guys are used to being in control. I thought, let me see what it’s like to be the one in charge. And it actually feels good.
How did your parents react when they saw your first sexy spread and realized that you weren’t a little girl anymore?
My mother always encouraged me to wear sexy clothes—not trashy, but sexy. She said if you have it, flaunt it, because you’re only young once. She didn’t want me to be her age wearing short skirts and small tops. She said to do it now because when I’m her age, I’ll be more reserved. But it wasn’t a problem when she saw my sexy pictures. She actually bought me lingerie and other stuff to wear for some of my shoots and is always giving me ideas. She’s actually one of my top friends on MySpace!
What has been the worst modeling shoot you’ve been on thus far?
Wow, that’s easy. I did a shoot in Jamaica for a calendar. The photographer ended up being a pervert. I never signed a release giving him permission to use the pictures. The outfits we had were ridiculous and the pictures were terrible. I mean, he was shooting with film. I’ve never done a shoot with a professional photographer who uses film. Everyone uses digital now. He was trying to cover us with leaves and flowers that had all kind of bugs and insects. It was crazy!
You’ve been the featured girl in multiple hip-hop music videos. Hip-hop videos are notorious for being a little outrageous. What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen on a video shoot?
Well, I’d have to say seeing some of the artists’ friends doing drugs on the set. I don’t know, I guess I’m not used to seeing that kind of stuff, so to me, that was outta control. That stuff smells really bad and they act like they don’t care. I wasn’t feelin’ it.
How would you categorize your bedroom style? Hannah Montana, Girls Gone Wild, or Straight Animalistic?
I would say, straight animalistic! Some people do the striptease thing. I would be more likely to take my clothes off and wait for you with them in my hand.
So you like to just get straight to it?
Yeah. Let’s use the time for what really matters. I’m romantic but I like to get to the point.
What do you miss most about the Dominican Republic?
The weather. [Sigh] It’s like summer year round. You can wear a little dress and that’s it. But over here, when it’s cold, you have to wear a bunch of clothes. And I don’t like wearing winter clothes. With the gloves, ear warmers, a snow hat, a bunch of coats, hand warmers, boots…I just feel like a clown! I also hate the cold because you can’t do a lot of stuff.
What superpower would you want your man to have in the bedroom?
Hmmm…How about being able to duplicate himself, so he could give me a massage as well as give me some action! [laughs] The thing is, when I’m in love I feel like my guy is a superhero, just like Superman. Even if he’s not tall, strong or has blue eyes, I see him as my Superman.
