HIP HOP WEBSITE CAMPAIGNS FOR HIV/AIDS AWARENESS

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (March 2, 2010) – Preparations for the first ever R.A.P on AIDS Campaign and College Tour are now in full effect. Presented by 1HIPHOPUCIT.com, the R.A.P. (Reaching Out, Assisting, Protecting) on AIDS Campaign aims to reduce knowledge-behavior gaps concerning the risks of HIV/AIDS and STDs and increase consciousness about this fatal epidemic effecting urban community.

“Are You Positive You’re Not Positive?” is the slogan for the ten-city college tour that will stop in major metropolitan cities such as Chicago, Illinois, Los Angeles, California, and Houston Texas. During the event, participants will engage in open dialogues and workshops about HIV/AIDS, abstinence, and safe sex alternatives. In addition, free HIV/AIDS testing will be offered on site for everyone that attends the event. Essence Award winning AIDS Activist Hydeia Broadbent, who serves as a ROA Ambassador, will be the keynote speaker of the multi-city tour.

“AIDS doesn’t have a face,” said Broadbent in her public service announcement. “It does not discriminate by age, color or sexuality.”

The ROA campaign has also joined forces with The Test 1 Million Campaign; an organization whose goal is to get 1 Million Black people tested this year. To contribute to that one million, ROA has pledged to get 50,000 people tested this year.
