Jay Z is bringing Kalief Browder’s story to television next year.

The documentary series, “TIME: The Kalief Browder Story,” is set to premiere March 1 on Spike, with the Roc Nation mogul and Harvey Weinstein serving as executive producers.

A trailer for the six-part series was released today featuring archival footage of Browder, a young man who committed suicide in 2015 at the age of 22 years old.

When he was 16, Browder was arrested for allegedly stealing a backpack. He proclaimed his innocence and was sent to Rikers Island for three years without a trial. Two of those years were spent in solitary confinement. Eventually, his charges were dropped and he was released.

Jay Z, who met Browder after he was released from Rikers, says his story was important to document in this series.

“Kalief Browder is a modern day prophet; his story a failure of the judicial process,” he explained. “A young man, and I emphasize young man, who lost his life because of a broken system. His tragedy has brought atrocities to light and now we must confront the issues and events that occurred so other young men can have a chance at justice.”
