Singer Fantasia Barrino appeared on stage in Greensboro, over the weekend, but it was not to sing. The singer earned her honorary degree while becoming apart of Andrews High School graduation ceremony.

Barrino walked with the graduates in a cap and gown at the Greensboro Coliseum. In the past, Fantasia has been surprisingly honest about dropping out of high school as a teen – and struggling with her ability to read and write.

“I’ve been talking about it for so long,” Fantasia said “I have a lot of young people who look up to me, like my 15-year-old brother and 7-year-old daughter. It’s something that I really need to do and that I want to do.”
