Alexander Kinyua, 22, a former student at Morgan State University and the son of the academic institution’s physics professor, has pleaded guilty but not criminally responsible for killing his roommate at his home in Joppatowne, a Baltimore, Md., suburb. Kinyua admitting to dismembering his roommate, Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodie, 37, with an ax while he slept. Agyei-Kodie moved to the States from Ghana six weeks prior to his death.

Kinyua ate his roommate’s heart and parts of his brain, then hid his head and hands in metal tins in the laundry room before dumping the remaining body parts in a trash bin in nearby Towne Baptist Church’s parking lot.

Prior to committing the heinous crime, Kinyua, a native of Kenya, talked about “human sacrifices” in Facebook posts.

He pleaded guilty in court on Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, but not criminally responsible. He is being held at a state maximum security psychiatric hospital, where he will remain for the rest of his natural life.
