Sean Michael Anderson, better known to the world as Big Sean, may be relatively new to the game but his dreams were in the making long before he made it. He represents the Midwest and his Detroit origin even though he has born in Santa Monica, CA. He spent his entire life in Detroit and he graduated from Cass Technical High School and finished with an impressive 3.7 GPA. Sean kept a good networking base at a young age. Detroit’s Hip Hop radio station, WHTD was no stranger to him. He would declare himself a battle rapper and compete weekly on the radio’s rap battle contest.  In 2005, Sean heard about Kanye West being in town at the local radio station for an interview and he could not pass up the opportunity. West was reluctant to listen to the young rapper who was around 17 years old at the time but came around and gave Sean 16 bars to rap for him. Big Sean said that West really liked his freestyle. He got the opportunity to leave his demo tape with West and two years later in 2007, he was signed with Kanye West’s GOOD MUSIC and by the next year he was signed with Def Jam Recordings also. In between those years, it’s no doubt that Sean was working hard. September 30, 2007, he released his first mixtape under his new found label called Finally Famous Vol. 1: The Mixtape. His hit song “Get’cha Some” directed by Hype Williams got media exposure and was mentioned in The Source and the Detroit Metro Times. He then followed up in 2009 with another mixtape, UKNOWBIGSEAN, that featured “Get’cha Some” as well as 29 other songs hosted by Mick Boogie. The following year, he released his third mixtape, Finally Famous Vol. 3: BIG. This mixtape featured known artists like Curren$y, Tyga, Bun B, Chip the Ripper, Drake and more.

Finally Famous is the first official studio album by Big Sean and it was announced to be released June 2011 and produced by No I.D. He had three major hit singles including “My Last” with Chris Brown, “Marvin & Chardonnay” and “Dance” (A$$) featuring Nicki Minaj. He also had features like John Legend, Rick Ross, Pusha T, Lupe Fiasco, Pharrell, Kanye West, Roscoe Dash and more.  In the Spring of 2012, GOOD MUSIC‘s new lead single “Mercy” from the collaborative album, Cruel Summer, was publicized. Cruel Summer was officially put out this summer of 2012.  Sean is still working on his next best project. He recently released his latest mixtape, Detroit, which features the hit single “Mula” with French Montana and is available for download online. Currently, he is in the making of his Hall of Fame Tour. He has spent the beginning of the tour overseas and made sure Detroit was his first stop performance in the states. The tour begins to really take off in February.  His sophomore album Hall of Fame: Memoirs of a Detroit Player is expected to drop in 2013. He is living proof that one must stay extremely focused on the dreams they aspire to be. Sean had the opportunity to quit but chose to stay persistent. It may have taken two years to get signed after meeting Kanye West and it may have seemed like forever but the point is that it happened. Positivity is the root of ambition and is a must for all dream chasers. The world cannot end in December because Big Sean has so much more to give us!
