Although details have been scarce about the show, formerly signed to Murder Inc. Records R&B singer Ashanti is preparing to launch her upcoming reality television series which is said to be similar to the musical reality series American Idol that airs on the FOX network.

Ashanti signed a deal with Reveille Productions, the producers behind hit television shows including Ugly Betty, The Office, and Parental Control to launch a show that will focus on the vocal talents of inspiring singers for a chance to win a record deal.

The singer will not only appear on certain episodes of the show but is also responsible for the shows’ main production and behind the scenes work.  

“I’m excited about the opportunity to be working with Reveille LLC, one of the TV industry’s heavyweights; I can’t wait to begin production.”

Ashanti‘s mother and manager Tina Douglas released a statement describing that the show will revolve around Ashanti‘s own record label, Written Entertainment.

“It’s an unscripted television show that is definitely music related, we’ll be revealing more in the coming weeks. She has her own record label, called Written Entertainment, and the show is going to revolve around her label. It’s going to be really big.”
