K. Michelle has risen to stardom on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,” which kicked off its second season last month. But there’s more to the in-your-face reality star than what we see on TV.

In the premiere episode of her “Day in the Life” diary, the Memphis soulstress heads to New York to start promo for her upcoming debut Rebellious Soul. She stops by the Atlantic Records offices and conducts interviews with media outlets before heading to the hair salon to get bangs (“I get excited by weave,” admits K).

During her whirlwind trip to the Big Apple, she also meets with her manager Jeff Robinson of MBK Entertainment and hits the studio to record a new song. She shows her deep connection with her fans during an emotional phone call with a Twitter follower who sent her flowers.
