snl-beyonce-skit

“SNL” is known to cover hot topics. And they proved this yet again last night with “The Day Beyoncé Turned Black,” a hilarious skit in response to the backlash over Queen Bey’s single“Formation” and Super Bowl 50 halftime show.

“It was the day white people lost their Beyoncé,” the faux horror film trailer voiceover says. “It was the day they lost their damn white minds.”

The fake film, “rated NC-17 for white people and G for black people,” pokes fun at the uproar over Queen Bey’s pro-black anthem, which dropped last week.

Criticism came from the likes of former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who called ‘Yonce’s Super Bowl 50 halftime show “outrageous” and “terrible.” Elsewhere, The Blaze’sTomi Lahren said Bey perpetuated “the great battle of the races” at the event, and protesters are still planning an anti-Beyoncé rally scheduled for this week.

But others came to the singer’s defense. T.I., for instance, said he didn’t see anything “malicious” about her “demonstration.” And “Daily Show” correspondent Jessica Williamscelebrated Bey’s “black girl magic,” calling her halftime performance “amazing.”

This is not the first time “SNL” has created a Beyoncé-themed skit. In May 2014, the show aired a sketch called “The Beygency,” which poked fun at everyone’s obsession with the superstar.
