His first movie has yet to hit theaters, but Trey Songz is already making moves in Hollywood. The singer-turned-actor has signed on to star in the romantic comedy Baggage Claim.

The film, Fox Searchlight’s adaptation of a novel written by David E. Talbert, focuses on a 35-year-old flight attendant who refuses to show up to her younger sister’s engagement party without a fiancé of her own, so she begins searching for a man.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Trey will play a big-time record producer with “plenty of swagger,” alongside Taye Diggs, Paula Patton, Derek Luke, Adam Brody, and Djimon Hounsou. Shooting begins this month in Los Angeles.

But first, the “Heart Attack” singer can be seen making his big-screen debut in Texas Chainsaw 3D, hitting theaters on January 4, 2013.
