The streets of Chicago are about to be very busy soon with the filming of upcoming action movie “Transformers 3″. At a news conference for the film Wednesday, Jose Santiago, the executive director of the Office of Emergency Management and Communications, prepared the general public for road closures and and an impact on traffic during day-time shooting for the movie in July. However despite an increase in traffic and angry city-dwellers, Transformers 3 will pump $20 million into the local economy and create more than 200 jobs, including 10 internships for Chicago Public School students.
Here are the dates for filming:
From 8 p.m on Friday, July 9 through 5 a.m. on Monday, July 12: LaSalle Street from Jackson to Randolph, Washington from Wells to Clark, Randolph from Wacker to Wells
From 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 16 through 5 a.m. on Monday, July 19: Michigan Avenue from Wacker to Ohio/Ontario
From 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 18 through 5 a.m. on Thursday, July 22: Wacker between Michigan and Wabash
Guess you can’t be too mad if you have to take the long way home! The deal does have its perks. $20 million of them to be exact.
