Hot on the heels of turning in the best performance of her career in BET.com’s smash hit web sudser Buppies (Seriously y’all, the girl is the black Carrie Bradshaw as neruotic, Hollyweird princess Quinci in Buppies), Tatyana Ali is returning to sitcoms! As previously reported, the actress/producer/Fresh Prince of Belair alum— who also recurs on The Young and the Restless as Roxanne— is starring in Love That Girl, TV One’s first foray into scripted television, premiering Jan. 19 at 9 pm (thanks DC reader Smitty for the tip!). Who does Tatyana think she is, Crystal Chappell with all these gigs? All joking aside, Love That Girl, from Martin scribe Bentley Kyle Evans, and executive produced by Martin Lawrence himself, looks funny from the trailer. Love That Girl definitely has that old school, 90’s, black folks sitcom feel. Hey I’m just glad to see another cabler getting into scripted TV, especially starring and produced by people of color. Check out Y&R alum Phil Morris as Ali’s character’s dad in the sitcom. I think I will give it a look-see, if for no other reason, to check out the Immunique character. I feel her on making folks use hand sanitizer!
