With the success of shows like “American Idol” and “The Voice” and the high level of anticipation for next season’s premiere of the American version of “The X Factor,” it’s clear that American audiences are in love with musical competitions. But now veteran rapper Snoop Dogg wants to make his mark in the market, claiming he wants to make a hip-hop version of “The X Factor” for “’hood artists.”

According to guardian.co.uk, the West Coast legend, who’s currently overseas in the UK supporting the release of his album, The Doggumentary, explained in an interview that although he enjoys the current crop of music contests, he believes that there’s a space in television for a contest

“straight directed to the ‘hood … at people with no money, just talent.”

Although it may seem like something of a long shot to some fans, Snoop explains that he fully intends to see his idea come to fruition.

“I’m looking for a deal from a network to find America’s hottest ‘hood artists,” explained Snoop.

If Snoop’s vision does become a reality, hopefully it will create the next Wiz Khalifa or Nicki Minaj and spare the world another Da Band.
