Rick Ross just unleashed a mixtape for fans on Christmas Eve titled Ashes To Ashes and he is already prepping for the release of his fifth studio album.
The Miami-based MC announced the project recently and premiered the lead single, Made Men featuring Drake, during New York Power 105’s morning show The Breakfast Club.
“I just wanted to put some final touches on it,” said Ross about why the single didn’t appear on his most recent mixtape. “I’m back in the lab. Meek Mill, Wale, they back in the lab now. I’m working on my project.”
Talking about the forthcoming album during an interview with MTV News, Ross called the project “a new beginning” and promised “some new sounds.”
“So I wanted to give the people something before the year was out…because I have a new album I’m cooking up,” he said. “I feel like it’s a new beginning. There’s a lot of things that got to go. And this is the beginning of some new things that I [will] pop off in music. Some new sounds, some new styles, some new techniques, some new bosses. And that’s what it’s about.”
The LP, which currently doesn’t have a release date, will be titled God Forgives, I Don’t. Ross’ last album, Teflon Don, was released in the summer of last year and thus far has sold just over 500,000 copies.
