Chris Brown appeared in a D.C. courtroom on Friday for the start of his assault trial. The “Loyal” singer was joined by his family and friends including his mother Joyce Hawkins, Karrueche Tran, Bow Wow, and Tank.

Judge Patricia Wynn was expected to deliver her verdict in Brown’s bodyguard Christopher Hollosy’s trial Friday, but she delayed that until Monday. Brown’s trial will also begin Monday.

Brown and Hollosy both face an assault charge after a Maryland man says they punched him outside the W Hotel in October after he tried to take a photo with the star. But Brown has denied hitting the man, who he claims was trying to get on his tour bus.

During his brief court appearance, a suit-clad Chris waved to his family and Bow Wow, who flashed the peace sign.

The singer, who is currently on probation for the Rihanna assault case, faces up to four years in prison.
