The Barbz invaded the Big Apple when Nicki Minaj took over Roseland Ballroom for the Pepsi “Live for Now” concert, which was streamed live online. The femme fatale closed out the first leg of her “Pink Friday” world tour with a surprise-filled set featuring Lil Wayne, Drake, Foxy Brown, and Cam’ron, who joined her on “I Am Your Leader.”
“I believe in giving props where props are due. And sometimes it happens to be one person that has influenced me more than any other woman. I wanna bring the baddest bitch out that ever did this shit,”
she said before Foxy Brown appeared to perform “B.K. Anthem” and “Oh Yeah.”
The rap divas embraced. “This is my heart, this is my sister. I Minaj-ieaj to the death,” said Foxy.
“Broken Silence changed my fu**ing life,” continued Nicki. “I always loved Foxy, but when she put out Broken Silence, I knew that you were an innovator, intelligent, beautiful, fiesty, crazy sometimes, but ahead of your time. And Foxy, I want to thank you for really being one of my biggest influences in the game. And a lot of times we don’t really give it up like we should. There isn’t a female rapper in the world that has opened more doors up for me than you. You and Lauryn, so thank you.”
The crowd chanted Foxy’s name as she walked offstage.
“I’m coming back. My sister is making sure I come back,” she teased.
Drake followed with “Up All Night” and “Make Me Proud.”
“I just had to get on the plane and support the queen, Ms. Nicki Minaj,” he said before making way for the Young Money chief, Lil Wayne, who helped close out the show with “Take It to the Head” and “The Motto.”
