While Nicki Minaj’s debut album is still a work in progress, the rap diva is spilling details on one track she did with Swizz Beatz that will definitely make the cut.
The Young Money femcee and super-producer have been in the lab cooking up hits for her project, which is due later this year. Swizz put in the call to make it happen.
“He definitely expressed interest in an interview one time,” Nicki told Hot 93.7’s Jenny Boom Boom. “I was excited because I was like, ‘Swizz Beatz, I love his style.’ And as a matter of fact, we got some shit.”
She spoke about one record that she’s particularly excited about.
“It’s one song called ‘Catch Me’ that will definitely make the album and it’s a masterpiece from me and Swizz. It’s a little singing, a little rapping, but it’s like a different vibe. It’s a moody vibe. It’s just dope. And the beat sounds really futuristic, but it’s mellow futuristic. It puts you in this weird…like you’re high type shit, even though I don’t get high and I never have.”
As for her current single “Your Love,” Nicki was apprehensive about releasing it until she saw the reaction after it leaked.
“That was a leak and I was so upset they put it out ’cause I recorded that song like two years ago,” she said. “Next thing you know, people started falling in love with it.”
