Barbie is back with another double dose. After dropping “Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li” at the same time, the Young Money queen serves up both videos at once.
The visual for “Barbie Tingz” was directed by Giovanni Bianco, the creative director for Vogue Italia. The clip focuses on Nicki clones, with exaggerated makeup, animated facial expressions, and copycats all around.
Choreographed by Aliya Janell, the clip also showcases Nicki’s dance moves. Jumping through eras, Minaj goes from b-girl to renaissance doll, all while dissing any lookalikes that come near her.
The Steven Klein-directed “Chun-Li,” which became Nicki’s 16th top 10 single on the Hot 100, showcases a tough Nicki. Clad in superhero/dominatrix-inspired ensembles, she once again takes on her clones.
Janell also choreographed this visual, which employs Asian themes throughout. In fact, it plays out like a movie from the start, when Minaj issues a warning to her competitors.
“Barbie Tingz” and “Chun-Li” are set to appear on Minaj’s forthcoming fourth album. A release date will be revealed next week. Nicki will perform both tracks on the season finale of “SNL” on May 19.
