Fantasia’s “rock soul” movement continues with the release of her country-inspired single “Ugly.” Written by Audra Mae and Nicolle Galyon, and produced by Ron Fair, the song is set to appear on her upcoming fifth album The Definition Of…

“Rock Soul is all types of sounds,” explained Tasia. “Go with me while I Go Country for a sec (TIME TO CROSS OVER) when you love music you Love it All.”

While “Ugly” was released on YouTube, the video is actually just a still image of a porcelain doll being smashed to pieces. Meanwhile, Fantasia sings a compelling tale about a young girl who grew up in a hurry.

Fantasia will perform “Ugly” on the grand finale of “American Idol” this Thursday, and the song will be available on April 7. She will also hit the road with Anthony Hamilton for a joint tour, which starts April 21 in Buffalo, New York.
