Mystikal is linking up with some of his southern counterparts to cook up a comeback album. Thus far, he has already enlisted the help of Louisiana native Lil Wayne and according to recent reports, he is now collaborating with Mannie Fresh.

While talking with MTV News, the former Cash Money producer revealed that together he and Mystikal hope to revitalize the New Orleans music scene and really don’t plan on looking for too much talent outside of the city.

“We finishing up his album and the thing of it is, I just want it to be a traditional New Orleans album,” said Mannie. “I just want to reach back and get New Orleans artists, the way we used to put it down.”

“There’s no disrespect to no other artist, but I don’t feel like we have to go outside the circle.  We got so much talent in our city. I would like to get some of that Neville [family] stuff on there and [Trombone Shorty]. But that’s what it is. I want to bring it back to where it started from.”

A lot of the details surrounding when fans will get to hear the LP haven’t been finalized yet though; it is currently unclear when the project will be released and on what label.

Mystikal was released from prison a year ago after serving six years for sexual battery and extortion. His last studio album, Tarantula, was released in December of 2001 and featured the hit singles Bouncin’ Back and Tarantula.
