Although Mystikal has faded from the scene for a while due to a six year bid behind bars on sexual battery charges, he plans to resurface with hit songs. He has collaborated with Pharrell, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, and Mannie Fresh so far to make his album a success.
“Everything is lined up for me, it’s amazing. I didn’t throw pity parties for myself while in prison. I knew I was too blessed to be stressed and I knew I was gonna get through it. I’m still on Jive. I still have an obligation to fulfill with them guys,” Mystikal told MTV. He continued by saying, “We gonna do it in a major way, a lot of rappers are gonna have to go back to the drawing board.”
Mystikal began serving his sentence after January 16, 2004 for forcing his hairstylist to have sex with him, upon the discovery of a videotape with evidence from the rappers’ home, he plead guilty on the charges. During his sentence, Mystikal was also charged with failing to file his 1998 and 1999 tax returns.
Mystikal was released last winter, and pronounced: “I’m back! Still trying to feel this reality. It still feels like a dream. Six years off the scene, for most rappers it’d be over with. Man it’s gon’ be the beginning for me and I’m finna get my reparations.”
As for his position on life, he plans to take a more positive approach. Mystikal spoke to BET in an exclusive interview about his situations.
“It was tough, I took it in stride. For a while it felt like I was gone so long. I’m back and I love y’all and I missed y’all and I want to send out appreciation for all of the fans, I am going to be doing a lot of positive things.”
