Once upon a time, an entire battalion of grimy hardcore Philadelphia rappers ended up on the roster of Roc-A-Fella rappers. Most of them never got to release albums, but all of them — actual minor stars Beanie Sigel and Freeway in particular — got to do some excellent work with rap’s biggest label backing them. Jay-Z isn’t returning any of these guys’ texts anymore, but it’s heartening to see that they all get together to rip through a few absolutely vicious rap verses every so often. It’s just happened again on “666,” a track from Freeway’s forthcoming mixtape The Intermission. Frequent Freezer collaborator Jake One produces, and everyone goes nuts. Listen below.
