Cali Swag District emcee M-Bone was murdered in what may have been a malicious drive-by shooting, and now the slain rapper’s girlfriend is opening up about the murder and accusing a jealous male neighbor of being the shooter.
According to tmz.com, the young woman, who out of fear requested that her name not be used, explained that she and M-Bone, born Mante Talbert, had been living together for a year and that a male neighbor in their apartment complex had become obsessed with the success of the Cali Swag District and was becoming increasingly hostile towards Talbert.
The young woman also confirmed that their was a Twitter beef between Talbert and the jealous man, as reported earlier.
On May 15, the day of the shooting, Talbert’s girlfriend claims that she picked up the rapper from the airport at 12:15 p.m., then drove him back to their apartment complex. Later, around 10:00 p.m. that evening, Talbert took his girlfriend’s car and said he was going to the studio to record.
Shortly after he left, Talbert’s girlfriend was called by one of the rapper’s group members and informed of the terrible news that the young rapper had been shot as he stood near her car while in front of a liquor store.
Police are still investigating the murder. So far no arrests have been made.
What do you think of Talbert’s girlfriend’s accusation?
As the family of late Cali Swag District rapper Montae “M-Bone” Talbert begin to put together funeral arrangements for the fallen star, police have been interviewing witnesses trying to piece together clues surrounding the killing. While law enforcement officials say they have no clear suspect or motive behind the slaying it’s being reported throughout the Inglewood cops’ interviewing process a solid description of the car driven by the assailant is coming together.
M-Bone was shot two times late Sunday night outside a liquor store after leaving a recording studio.
Yesterday the family of M-Bone, including his mother held an emotional vigil at the scene of the crime. Talbert’s mother urged the city of Inglewood to offer a reward for the capture of the shooter responsible for her son’s death.
For the first time since the murder, yesterday the remaining members of Cali Swag spoke out about M-Bone’s death.
“He went to the store to get something to drink and, randomly, somebody pulls up, don’t say no words, don’t shoot a lot of shots, just did what they had to do and got on” said C-Smoove. “It had to be something, but we really can’t tell exactly what it was.”
The group also dispelled any theory that M-Bone’s killing was tied to reported gang affiliations.
“I wanna clear up: It had nothing to do with gang violence, it wasn’t nothing like that. It was just a ‘wrong place at the wrong time’ situation. We just gotta stay strong for the homey,” C-Smoove says in the video posted on the gossip site. “We don’t know who’s responsible for it or what the case may be. It’s just bad, man. We’re just gonna leave it up to the law right now because there’s really nothing we can do.”
