Like fellow rappers Jay-Z and Russell Simmons, Lil Wayne is filming a documentary on his current I Am Still Music Tour. Wayne revealed to MTV News that he has been filming select dates and will compile the footage into a tour documentary.

The Young Money CEO said the following:

“I just felt like a movie like that hasn’t come out in so long. At that time when they put those movies out, we as the fans were interested in what they were doing on the road. … Nobody hasn’t came around since then that was that interesting other than Young Money.”

Cameras have been set up on and by the stage on select dates, and they have been capturing Wayne and his Young Money female star Nicki Minaj rock different cities every night.

As always, the longtime Young Money documenter DJ Scoob Doo will be following Wayne very closely gathering numerous behind the scenes clips and giving viewers a backstage pass to the I Am Still Music Tour.

DJ Scoob Doo has been making documentary films with Lil Wayne for years and is the director of the well-known Nino Brown film series starring Wayne.

There has been no word whether the film will be a theatrical release or a straight-to-DVD offering, but Wayne told MTV,

“It’s going to be real major; it’s going to be real big. I will eat real nice.”
