Lil’ Kim received a warm welcome when she stopped by BET’s “106 & Park” on Friday, the 15th anniversary of the Notorious B.I.G.’s death. Biggie’s protégée spoke about her new single “If You Love Me,” upcoming album, the Notorious movie, and helped judge the “Freestyle Friday” competition. But the mood shifted at the end when host Rocsi Diaz addressed the “elephant in the room” aka her long-running feud with Nicki Minaj.
“It’s almost like an elephant in the room to not bring it up,” said Rocsi.
Kim quickly shut her down after realizing where she was going with the question.
“No, why?” she responded. “We here, this is about Team Kim and everybody in here. Brooklyn in the building!”
Rocsi pressed on,
“With much respect due to you and your craft—and I’m not trying to not say what the fans don’t want to hear—but it’s been the elephant in the room. It’s being spit out there, so the only reason I address it… But I respect your game if you say you don’t want to talk about it, but I don’t want to see you talking about it somewhere else.”
Kim stated she was done speaking about the issue, at least for the time being.
“At the end of the day, this is about Kim right now,” she said. “We gave you that movie already, you know what I’m sayin’. We movin’ on to a whole ‘nother direction and if it come back that way, then we give ya’ll another movie. But right now we moving into another direction. ‘Bout to drop some new singles for Queen Bee and Brooklyn.”
The rap diva later addressed the tense moment on Twitter.
“I want to take this time 2 say #TeamLilKim & all my fans that came out 2 106. I fucking love u guys. Y’all really turnt it up & represented,” tweeted Kim. “Even when Rocsi tried to get disrespectful towards the end & ask an unappropriate irrelevant question.”
