Kanye West and Alicia Keys lent their voices to “12.12.12: The Concert for Sandy Relief” at Madison Square Garden in New York on Wednesday. Sporting a Pyrex hoodie and leather kilt, Yeezy performed over 10 songs including “Mercy,” “Clique,” “Power,” “Jesus Walks,” “All of the Lights,” “Diamonds,” “Gold Digger,” and “Runaway,” closing with “Stronger.”
“I got friends that was displaced ’cause of Hurricane Sandy that I let stay in my place so this is an emotional evening for us,” he said after “Touch the Sky.”
Looking radiant in red, Alicia Keys closed out the evening with two songs.
“I’m so honored to be here with you tonight. This is for our brothers and sisters. We can become brand new,” said the New York songstress as she performed her new single “Brand New Me,” taking a moment to reflect on her city.
She continued with “No One,” encouraging everyone to put their lighters in the sky.
“My city, New York City, is the most incredible city, the most resilient city,” said Alicia before taking a bow.
