Prior to performing at TIDAL X: 1020, Jay Z stopped by “Jimmy Kimmel Live” during the show’s week-long visit to his hometown of Brooklyn. The Roc Nation mogul sat down for an interview, where he discussed TIDAL, his success, and the best pizza in BK.

“My goal was to have a gold album, and I thought I was being crazy,”

said Jay, who ranked No. 2 on Forbes’ Cash Kings list this year.

When Kimmel mentioned that Beyoncé likes extra tomato sauce and jalapeños on her pizza, her husband joked,

“She’s from Houston, first of all, and they don’t have pizza there.”

Jay Z attended high school with hip-hop greats like Biggie and Busta Rhymes. While recounting his battle with Busta in the lunch room, he humbly declared that he won.

Plus, Kimmel aired an old clip of Jay Z freestyling on TV alongside Big Daddy Kane. “That was embarrassing,” said Jay, adding,

“The haircut, the shirt, everything.”

At the end, they took a stroll through Brooklyn to Barclays Center, and Jay gave out hugs along the way. “Kimmel” also aired his performance of “Empire State of Mind,” which closed out TIDAL X: 1020.
