Happy Mother’s Day! VH1 is set to commemorate the holiday this evening when it airs its“Dear Mama” special, a program that honors moms who have helped raise superstars.
After premiering teasers from Alicia Keys and Queen Latifah, more clips from the show have surfaced online, including a video tribute to Jada Pinkett Smith from her children, Jaden, Willow, and Trey.
“You’re the guide to my heart, my soul, and my mind,” said Willow. “I love you so much.”
Meanwhile, Trey honored Jada as his “bonus mother,” given that his biological mom is Will Smith’s ex Sheree Zampino.
“I’m so blessed to have you as my bonus mother in my life,” said Trey. “Thank you for being you, mom. I love you.”
Jaden also celebrated his mom with a heartfelt tribute.
“I wouldn’t be the way that I am without you,” he said. “There’s no way for me to express to you or anybody how I truly feel about you because it’s not a feeling, it’s the living of my life that’s an expression of you. I’m really like a painting or movie that you have made somehow.”
Will Smith got in on the praise too, honoring his wife Jada with a special speech. After saying he wouldn’t be “silly,” the rapper-turned-actor got a few laughs from the crowd when he spoke about the “making” of the couple’s children.
Elsewhere, Rita Ora celebrated her mom Vera with an emotional speech about immigration, perseverance, and resiliency.
“You left Kosovo as a doctor and when we arrived in London, you had to attend school for six years in order to be reaccredited,” said Rita, while fighting back tears. “Think about that. To know that you’re already more qualified than maybe some of the students next to you, but still you have to relearn everything, including a language, just to prove yourself.
“But mom, you never wavered,” she continued. “You just rolled up your sleeves, went to school, picked up a job to help dad support our family, and you did all of this while winning your battle against breast cancer.
