Today marks the birthday of Aaliyah Dana Haughton, who
would have just turned 32 if she hadn’t have lost her life in a
tragic plane accident back in 2001. I (like many others) remember
when Aaliyah died quite vividly. That day in summer 2001 I was at
the Notting Hill Carnival putting up posters for Def Jam when I
first heard the news break. Don’t know what thoughts passed through
my mind… But I know that the ΛΛLIYΛH album was the soundtrack to
the rest of the year.
