Everyone is buzzing about Lil Wayne’s homecoming tomorrow, including Bill Clinton. The former President weighed in on the hip-hop star’s impending release from jail during an on-air interview.

It was Clinton’s 30-year-old daughter Chelsea who put him up on the genre.

“My daughter introduced me to rap and hip-hop music after I said some things she thought were not very smart,” admitted the 42nd President of the United States when he called into 96.1 Kiss’ “Morning Freak Show.”

“She said, ‘Dad, you need to listen. A lot of these people are smart.’ This guy’s smart and he’s got ability and he’s got a new chance now, and what I hope is that it’s not just something to brand him as a cool guy, but that it’ll never happen again to him.”

He also wished Wayne the best and hopes he stays out of trouble.

“I think a lot of these people, they don’t get successful by being really dumb,” explained the politician. “They’re really smart, but a lot of them have had tough lives and they almost think it’s cool to get in trouble every now and then or they don’t know how to stay out. What I hope will happen is that he has a good life now.”
