Katy Perry, Keri Hilson, and Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles reported for duty at Friday’s taping of the USO Presents “VH1 Divas Salute the Troops” at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, Calif.
The trio, wearing white-and-gold micro dresses with star and crystal detailing, wowed the soldiers during the opening number with the classic Army song “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
After an introduction from the legendary MC Lyte, a curly, blonde-haired Nicki Minaj performed her Pink Friday cut “Moment 4 Life” and shared the mic with Katy for Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”
Brandy and a Navy soldier introduced Keri Hilson, who sang her single “Pretty Girl Rock” and covered Aretha Franklin’s “Think” with country duo Sugarland. Katy set off sparks with “Firework” and defied gravity with her Grammy-nominated hit “California Gurls.”
The ladies, including Grace Potter and host Kathy Griffin, ended the night by thanking all the military men and women for their service. Catch all these moments and more when “VH1 Divas Salute the Troops” airs Sunday at 9 p.m.
