Eminem is set to premiere the video for his latest single “Headlights” on Mother’s Day. Before its debut, Em and director Spike Lee sat down for a brief interview teasing their cinematic collaboration, which was shot on 8 Mile in Eminem’s hometown of Detroit last month.

“I really love the narrative for what we’ve come up [with] together for ‘Headlights,’” said Spike, who’s directed iconicvideos for Michael Jackson, Prince, and Public Enemy.

“It’s a great, great story. It’s heartfelt, some pain in it, but that’s life. So that’s why we’re here, back in the ‘hood, 8 Mile Detroit, shooting where all this took place.”

The Nate Ruess-assisted song, on which Em addresses the tumultuous relationship with his mother Debbie Mathers, appears on The Marshall Mathers LP 2.
