Not to be outdone by ESPN’s hype machine surrounding the new Big 3, SI quickly jumps in and gives them the cover to the latest issue that will be on stands on July 19th. Below you’ll find a breif timeline of the history of the Big 3 over the years.

  • 2003 James is drafted first overall by the Cavs, Bosh goes fourth to the Raptors, and the Heat takes Wade fifth
  • 2004 The three make the All-Rookie first team, and James and Wade win bronze with Team USA in Athens
  • 2005 James and Wade are named to the All-NBA second team
  • 2006 The three play together for the East in a 122–120 All-Star Game win, then team up again at the worlds in Japan, where the U.S. finishes third. Wade leads Miami to the NBA title and is named SI’s Sportsman of the Year
  • 2007 All three start the All-Star Game. Bosh and Wade lead their teams to division titles, while James takes the Cavs to the Finals
  • 2008 The three finally win gold together, leading the U.S. to an 8–0 record at the Beijing Olympics
  • 2010 James cements his seven-year relationship with Bosh and Wade by joining them in Miami
