It was a historical night for Drake and his hometown of T-Dot. During Drizzy’s headlining performance at his October’s Very Own Festival which also featured Bun B, Young Jeezy and Francis & The Lights, he made it night to remember by bringing out surprise guests Jay-Z and Eminem (also Fab & Rick Ross). I mean to have two of the most respected in the game come rock with you in your own city just off the strength says something. Hats off to Drake.

Hip-hop’s prince made a triumphant return to his hometown of Toronto for the inaugural OVO Festival at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre on Sunday night (Aug. 1). After Bun B, Francis and the Lights, and Young Jeezy warmed up the sold-out crowd, Drake performed a 90-minute set packed with surprise guests who flew across the border to lend their support.

Rick Ross swaggered across the stage for “B.M.F.,” Drizzy’s fellow Canuck Kardinal Offishall joined him on “Ol’ Time Killin’,” Fabolous pitched it with “Throw It in the Bag (Remix),” and Young Jeezy made it an “Unforgettable” night. Beyoncé was also spotted backstage.

But the 23-year-old phenom saved the best for last. Cell phones lit up the venue when Eminem emerged from the shadows to spit his verse on “Forever.”

“Give me something for the man who’s inspired me more than anybody else in my fu**ing life,”

Drizzy said before his mentor Jay-Z appeared onstage to the tune of “Run This Town.”

Hov may run New York City, but by the end of the night, it was clear who runs this town.
