Tha Carter V is coming sooner than you think. During the kickoff to NBA All-Star Weekend, Drake revealed the release date for Lil Wayne’s highly-anticipated album.

The Toronto MC shared the stage with the Young Money chief at the Sprite NBA All-Star party at the House of Blues in New Orleans on Friday night, where he made the big announcement.

“If you want to hear Lil Wayne at his best, if you wanna hear Young Money at they best… Carter V, May 5,” said Drizzy. “Just know we about this shit for real.”

Drake has been in the studio with Wayne working on the fifth installment in his Carter series.

“Wayne’s about to put out his album and I know Drake’s been in the studio with him,” Nicki Minaj told Angie Martinez.

In November 2012, Weezy announced that Tha Carter V would be his last album.

“I know ya’ll want me around for a little bit and Carter V is my last album,” he told MTV News. “I’ve been rapping since I was eight years old. That’s a long time.”

But first, he will join Drizzy, Nicki, Tyga, and the rest of the crew on the Young Money compilation Rise of an Empire, due March 11.

“I think the whole team collectively just feels so together right now,” said Nicki. “We all kinda just wanna win. … We just workin’, no bad blood, no bad vibes at all.”
