The first film S.W.A.T. which was released in 2003 starred actors Samuel L. Jackson, LL Cool J, Colin Farrell, and Jeremy Renner and surrounded a plot of a French drug lord who is planning to break free from prison and promised $100 million to his rescuer. The plot of the sequel surrounds LAPD Lieutenant Paul Cutler who is transferred to train a Detroit S.W.A.T. team on new anti-terrorism and homeland security techniques. Cutler later finds himself as the target of a homicidal genius who is protected by government officials.
“It’s exciting to bring an iconic TV show to life,” said executive producer Scott Putman. “The film is going to be gritty, edgy, and suspenseful. I used to watch the TV series when I was a kid, and I couldn’t be more excited to help carry on the name.”
The release date of the movie will be announced in the coming weeks.
