CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry has died, one day after suffering serious injuries upon falling out of the back of a pickup truck in what authorities describe as a domestic dispute with his fiancee.
Police say Henry died at 6:36 a.m. Thursday. Henry was 26.
Bengals president Mike Brown released a statement Thursday, when Henry was still listed in critical condition saying they are
“stunned to have learned this news.”
The team’s director of security is scheduled to arrive in North Carolina to offer assistance to the family.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say a dispute began at a home Wednesday and Henry jumped into the bed of the pickup truck as his fiancee was driving away from the residence.
According to his fiancee Loleini’s myspace they were in the midst of planning a huge wedding. Update hours before the incident:

Police say at some point as the woman drove, Henry “came out of the back of the vehicle.” He was found on the road about a half-mile from where police say the dispute began.
