Bun B’s latest album, Trill OG, was recently given the rare 5-mic rating by The Source.  Described by the hip-hop site as “the holy grail of Hip-Hop ratings,” the 5-mic label hasn’t been bestowed on an album since Lil Kim’s 2005 LP, Naked Truth.

Trill OG, which was released this past Tuesday (August 3), is the Texas rapper’s third solo studio LP and his first via Universal Motown. Three singles, Countin’ Money featuring Yo Gotti & Gucci Mane, Trillionaire featuring T-Pain, and Just Like That featuring Young Jeezy were released from the project and according to Bun, an unreleased verse from 2Pac is also featured on the album.

Talking about the LP during an interview with MTV News, Bun said that the third installment in the Trill trilogy would differ from the second because during II Trill he was still coping with the loss of his long time collaborator, Pimp C.

“I’m not really sure I gave [II Trill] everything I could. I don’t think I had everything to give to that album at the time,” said Bun. “It was still a great album; we made great music. I mean, we could do it in our sleep. But I’m not trying to do it in my sleep. I’m trying to be eyes wide open, fully focused. And I think we came back and accomplished that on Trill OG.”

According to Hits Daily Double, the album is on route to sell 35k units in its first week.
