Prior to the screening of Beyoncé’s Live at Roseland DVD in New York City on Sunday, the pregnant pop star sat down for a brief interview with the Associated Press, where she spoke about keeping her pregnancy a secret and her devoted fans.
“The whole time I definitely was thinking, ‘Everyone knows, everyone can see,’” said B while recalling the performances prior to her big reveal at the VMAs.
After seeing her fans line up in the rain to attend her four sold-out concerts at New York’s Roseland Ballroom over the summer, B was determined to give them a good show. “I just wanted to give everything I could,” she explained.
But while you may have not noticed, her pregnancy did take a tole of her live performances.
“When you’re pregnant, it’s a little bit harder to breathe, so it was hard doing all the choreography and singing at the same time,” she said. “I just got my strength from all the love from the fans.”
She knows a super fan when she sees one.
“I can see all of my super fans in the audience when I’m performing because they’re doing the choreography harder than me,” she laughed. “Some of the fans were like, ‘B, you better put me in this DVD.’ So I made sure I did.”
And don’t think she doesn’t read the comments her fans leave online. “It’s just a special bond and it just makes me so proud,” she added. “Sometimes I’m like tone it down.”
