Almost two years since his last album, 2 Chainz makes a triumphant return with his fifth studio album Rap or Go to the League.
The project, which he first announced in February 2018, features an all-star lineup. A&R’d by LeBron James, the 14 tracks include collaborations with Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande, plus Travis Scott, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Kodak Black, and more. Production comes courtesy of hitmakers including Pharrell, Mike WiLL Made-It, Mike Dean, Honorable C.N.O.T.E., and Buddah Bless.
On his first album since 2017’s Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, the rap veteran is sharing his wisdom with fans.
“My album is to preach black excellence in my own way, but it’s not too preachy. It’s not tired, it’s not boring,” he told Angie Martinez. “I’m just tryna show people about entrepreneurship, ownership. I talk about LLCs, I talk about taxes, I talk about the NCAA and what I feel is going wrong with student athletes. Every subject got some type of concept, some type of weight to it.”
The rap titan also went one-on-one with LeBron for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the album process. Their in-depth conversation can be viewed on Apple Music.
