Ray J is set to sing the sad song of a professional killer.

Variety reports that the man otherwise known as William Raymond Norwood, Jr. has joined the ensemble cast of the thriller ‘Song of the Knife,’ to be directed by Philip Cruz and co-written by Cruz and James Hyde. Ray J’s co-stars include Mark Dacascos (‘Brotherhood of the Wolf’), Michael Rooker (‘Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer’) and Keith David (‘Clockers’).

‘Song of the Knife’ revolves around the plight of an assassin (Dacascos) who is suffering from a terminal illness. The film will begin shooting at the end of February and has yet to find a distributor.

Hip hop artist and record producer Ray J has also been an actor for several years, appearing at age 15 in Tim Burton’s ‘Mars Attacks!’ (1996). He also appeared in ‘Steel’ (1997), an unfortunate would-be superhero vehicle for Shaquille O’Neal, and currently stars in the VH1 dating program ‘For the Love of Ray J.’
