Meek Mill is coming home for the holidays. After five months behind bars, the MMG rapper will reportedly be released from prison today.
According to FOX 29 (via Miss Info), Meek, born Robert Williams, will leave a Philadelphia prison over a month ahead of his January 2015 release.
He was sentenced to three-to-six months in prison for a probation violation in July. The incarceration delayed the September release of his sophomore album, Dreams Worth More Than Money.
Meek will reportedly be assigned to community service andanger management counseling. Per his probation, he will not be allowed to travel outside of Philadelphia.
Rick Ross hoped to reunite with his protégé for Christmas.
“We just ready for the big homie to get to the crib,” Rozay told Hot 97 in a recent interview. “Hopefully he can spend the holidays with us and kick 2015 off.”
Ludacris also voiced his support for Meek, writing,
“To whom it may concern PLEASE let this negro out of Jail. One of the only rappers of today that inspires me. #freemeek.”
According to TMZ, Meek was officially released from prison on Tuesday afternoon (Dec. 2). Rick Ross confirmed the news, tweeting,
“Meek home.”
He won’t be able to leave Philly until he completes his community service and treatment program.
His friends including A$AP Ferg, Kevin Hart, and Mike WiLL Made-It took to Twitter to welcome him back.
