14-Year-Old Girl Sentenced To 8 Years in Prison For Killing Her 2-Year-Old Sister

A teenager in Atlanta will have to spend the next eight years of her life in prison for murdering her 2-year-old sister. According to a reports by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, Ty’Asia Jackson, 14, accepted a plea deal that would force her to spend eight years behind bars and four years on parole.

In Feb. 2012, Jackson, 13 at the time, was asked to watched her younger siblings when her parents where away. Jackson later told her parents that 2-year-old Sasha was missing.

When her parents arrived at the home, Ty’Asia helped them search for the missing child. Sasha was eventually discovered in the backyard with stab wounds. She died as her family rushed her to the hospital.

Ty’Asia was questioned by police and eventually confessed to killing her sister. Prosecutors tried her as an adult and she faced 30 years behind bars. A doctor also determined that Ty’Asia lost contact with reality during the time of the killing.

She is now at a juvenile detention center in Georgia.
