When Lil Wayne’s mixtape Dedication 4 drops next week, you can expect to hear a familiar voice. Nicki Minaj has revealed that she has recorded a freestyle for the DJ Drama-hosted project.
The Young Money diva told MTV News how her latest collaboration with her mentor came together.
“I usually pick the beat when me and Wayne do something,” she said. “I went to Miami and I started grilling him like, ‘Hey, why don’t you lecture me anymore?’ and he says, ‘You made it already. I ain’t got to tell you shit.’”
She hopes her fans will get a laugh out of her contribution.
“That’s gon’ be real funny,” said Nicki, who demanded that she be included. “He was working on the mixtape and I said, ‘Excuse me, I need to be on that mixtape,’ and he said, ‘Aight, whatever you wanna do.’ So I just went into the other room and recorded on this particular beat that I’m sure my fans are gonna be very happy that I touched. I’m really excited for the kids to hear.”
Nicki, who will launch an arena tour this fall, also hinted at another project of her own.
“I’m releasing something before the year is out,” she said.
