Angie Stone was arrested in Georgia over the weekend after she was pulled over by police for a traffic violation, according to TMZ.
The celebrity gossip site reports that the singer was stopped after she was caught speeding by authorities on Sunday (March 27). After they asked her for identification however, it was revealed that she didn’t have a valid license to operate a vehicle in her possession and she was subsequently taken into custody. She was released approximately one hour thereafter.
Thus far neither the singer nor anyone from her camp has responded to the reports.
Stone hasn’t released an album since 2009’s Unexpected, which was released via Stax Records. She is known for her hit singles No More Rain (In This Cloud), Wish I Didn’t Miss You, and Brotha.
In other news, D’Angelo, who has a son with Stone, recently wrapped up some legal troubles of his own. The crooner was arrested in March of last year in the West Village area of New York City after he attempted to pay an undercover female police officer $40 for oral sex. He was initially charged with solicitation and released, but earlier this month he reached a plea deal with prosecutors. He pled guilty to disorderly conduct, which is a simple violation.
