Yaya DaCosta cast as Whitney Houston in Lifetime biopic
Former “America’s Next Top Model” cycle 3 contestant Yaya Dacosta may have found her big break! According to TVLine, DaCosta will channel her inner icon to play Whitney Houston in the Angela Basset directed biopic for Lifetime TV.
You may recall that DaCosta made her small-screen debut on “All My Children” after expressing an interest in becoming a Jill of All Trades. Since her soap opera debut, DaCosta has appeared on “Ugly Betty”, “House” and in Lee Daniel’s The Butler. In the Lifetime biopic, Yaya will play Houston as she deals with her volatile relationship with Bobby Brown and her early success in the music industry in the late ’80s and early ’90s.
As previously reported, for the first time in her career, Angela Basset will take a seat behind the camera as the project’s director. The Lifetime biopic, tentatively titled “Whitney Houston,” is set to release in early 2015.
