The-Dream has closed a chapter on his career. After seven years at Def Jam, the singer-songwriter has parted ways with the label.
He made the announcement on Instagram, posting a photo of the Def Jam logo along with the following message:
“I will miss this logo. It all started here! Love Everything that I achieved there, EXODUS THE-DREAM #exodusthedream.”
He released five albums on the label including his 2007 debut LoveHate, 2009′s Love vs. Money, 2010′s Love King, and the commercial release of his mixtape, Terius Nash: 1977. Last year, he dropped his final Def Jam release with IV Play.
The-Dream was named Executive Vice President of A&R at Def Jam in 2012 and produced hits for the label’s artists including Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Mariah Carey.
While he didn’t explain the reason behind his departure, he did hint at new things to come.
“Let the New Tides bring The Things not yet seen!” said Dream. “There’s more where those came from!”
