The Grammy Museum will debut its special Hip-Hop exhibit soon. This is the first time that an exhibit dedicated to this genre has existed at the museum.
Hip-Hop: A Cultural Odyssey will make its appearance this Saturday (February 5) where it will be on display until March 4, 2011. It is based on ARIA Multimedia Entertainment’s book, which bears the same name. Audiences will be taken on an interactive, visual and audio journey detailing four-decades of Hip-Hop music and its impact on culture.
Fans of the music will be able to see Grandmaster Flash’s turntables, original song lyrics handwritten by Tupac Shakur, LL Cool J’s Troop suit and Kangol hat, Run-DMC’s leather pants and jackets from the Walk This Way performance with Aerosmith, DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Homebase Tour jacket, a sneaker gallery from the private collection of Everlast and other notable artefacts from Hip-Hop names.
The exhibit will be showcased in the museum’s second floor temporary exhibit gallery. Educational and public programs relating to the exhibit will be announced throughout the duration of February 5th to March 4th.
The Grammy Museum is located at 800 W. Olympic Blvd, Ste. A245 in Los Angeles, California.
