The enticing appearance and angelic vocals of Keri Hilson captivates fans from all over the world. The Georgia peach born singer, songwriter and actress has climbed the ladder of success. After expressing her love of music to her mother as a girl, she was granted piano lessons which then turned into vocal lessons to improve on her true love of singing. At 14, she was in an all girl group D’Signe and landed a secure record deal but the group later disbanded. Keri worked most of her teenage years with producer Anthony Dent. She was a background vocalist and songwriter for many years to the stars like Usher, Kelly Rowland, Ciara and more. Hilson attended Emory University as a Theatre major in Atlanta while still working with artists like Britney Spears and Mary J. Blige. In 2006, she signed with Timbaland’s label “Mosley Music” and her breakthrough was in the hit single video “The Way I Are,” and it topped charts all around the world.
Hilson’s claim to fame really came in her debut album, In A Perfect World. It contained unforgettable singles like “Energy,” “Turning Me On” featuring Lil Wayne, and “Knock You Down” with Kanye West and Ne-Yo. Following that, she was featured on Nas’ “Hero” and Chris Brown’s “Superhuman.” Later, “Make Love,” “Slow Dance,” and “Change Me” was released as the next singles in promotion for the successful album. Hilson performed in Lil Wayne’s I Am Music Tour alongside Gym Class Heroes, Gorilla Zoe and T Pain. Before releasing her second album, she was featured on sings like female rapper Trina’s “Million Dollar Girl” with Diddy and T.I.’s single “Got Your Back.” In April 2010, she became the face of Avon cosmetics, replacing Jennifer Hudson. Her sophomore album, No Boys Allows was released December 21, 2010. Despite the title, it was not to insinuate that male listeners weren’t allowed to tune in.
